Dr. Dilip V. Patel graduated from MS University College of Medicine in Baroda, India.

Following medical residency and Hematology-Oncology, he joined the full-time faculty in Hematology- Oncology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY in 1988. He currently serves as Program Director, Hematology-Oncology Fellowship program at LIJ. He is a recognized expert in benign and malignant hematological disorders. Dr. Patel is a most sought after teacher and clinician from diseases ranging from Multiple Myeloma and MDS to Sickle cell disease in the adults.

His scientific papers have been published in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals. He has mentored innumerable young residents, Fellows and Medical Students. His dedication and commitment to various important social causes is legendary. He is a member of professional societies in his subspecialties.

He lives in Syosset with his wife Urvashi and son Abhishek.
