Rajiv K. Garg

Born in the quiet town of Dehradun, India, on July 9, 1959, Rajiv Garg has to his credit a very illustrious career, colored by different cultures, professions and above all different priorities of a diverse world. Garg, a graduate of City University in London, UK and a member of the Institute of Chartered accountants in England and Wales, is a well travelled individual both as a child (his father was in the Indian Foreign Services) and as a working professional.

Starting off his career as a banker at the young age of 24, with Bankers Trust, London, Rajiv was the only Indian on board. Within a short span of time he went on to become the Vice President (Derivatives) at Bankers Trust and then moved on to Credit Suisse, New York, as Director (Global head of Market Risk Management). Despite the fact that he was qualified and trained to be a banker, he always had a strong inclination towards healthcare and a vision to blend alternate medicine with allopath, through his conceived project, Econo Health in 1998.

Further into Risk Management, Rajiv progressed towards Mergers and Acquisitions, as Executive Vice President of Merisel Inc., M & A & Global Corporate Strategy (formerly Color Edge and Comp 24), a company he had turned around from a distressed asset to be the largest and best in its field.

At present, as President & Chief Executive Office, Wyckoff Heights Medical Center (WHMC), Rajiv Garg has a big job at hand and is successfully turning things around for a financially strained WHMC. WHMC, a part of the Brooklyn- Queens Health Care System, is a 350 bed hospital affiliated to Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, the third largest hospital group in the country.

Rajiv also holds office as Chief Financial Officer for Pulmo Biotech, a biotech company, spun out of Montreal heart institute which aims at commercialising an innovative and exciting new lung circulatory imaging agent called PulmoBind. Besides Garg, owns a medical school in the Caribbean in partnership and has interests in more educational institutions in India.

Rajiv is also the President of Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA) and as a president he is promoting Rajasthani values and culture. He has been actively involved with other charitable organizations like the FIA (Federation of Indian Associations) and BAPS.

Rajiv is a man of great vision. He holds a passion deep inside to be able to reach out to more and more youngsters and share with them his dream to give back to his homeland and contribute effectively, to the country’s progressive healthcare system.

Rajiv is married to Minaxi aka Mina for 27 years. They have two beautiful children Chirag and Aarti. Chirag is a Manager of Foreign Exchange at Barclays Capital and Aarti is a law student at Yeshiva University.
