His involvement in house staff education has given birth to a board review course, running strong for the last 12 years and in the past year was supported by the NYACP. He has conducted many educational programs for the New York ACP as well. From programs like these, one can see that he is an outstanding educator and it shows as his residents have nominated him as the best teaching attending several times. His dedication towards medicine can be seen not only through his teaching, but also in the way he inspires those he interacts with.

Dr. Mehta’s involvement in and passion for organized medicine has allowed him to hold many prominent positions in New York. It aims to enhance communication among the members and the community at large and to promote community activities that create an understanding of the Indian culture.

Throughout his life, Dr. Mehta has strived to do his best. With his abilities to direct and reason, he tends to undertake challenges often and easily. Most of these challenges are focused on bringing creativity, innovation and quality together in the field of medicine. His vision is admired and revered by many who work along side him. His wife, Dr.Isha Mehta, has such similar values. She is currently the head of the Gynecology Department in Elmhurst Hospital. She has traveled to numerous developing countries, such as Honduras, Bangladesh and Ethiopia, all in an effort to lend her expert hand in their communities and hospitals. In addition, she is currently pushing forward her NGO, “A Stitch in Time”, where she promotes women’s health and education throughout the world. She and Parag are firm believers in hard work, giving back to the community, and involving the youth to join their dreams and aspirations.

When these two doctors have a dream they follow it. They were taught these values by their parents, H.M. Mehta, Tarulata Mehta, Jaya Mahadevia and Shashikant Mahadevia. And now they pass on this legacy to their children, Ruju and Setu Mehta. Ruju is currently pursuing a career in Environmental Engineering at Cornell University and interning at National Grid, a power utility company. Setu, currently in 8th grade, is in Herricks Middle School and actively involved in Girl Scouts. Their passion, dedication and years of service will never end.
